Job summary
Please note this is a Maternity cover position for 12 months and available at 21 hours per week. Must be able to work a Tuesday and Wednesday to support service users already in/preparing for groups.
The post holder will be a qualified health care professional with high clinical skills, knowledge and experience in the care for people with complex emotional needs, who will manage the allocated caseloads from initial referral to the service and allocation of cases.
The post holder will work autonomously and with the support of the team using an arts based approach to contribute to the development, provision and evaluation of the Mentalisation Based Treatment (MBT), both MBT verbal and Mentalisation based art therapy programme (MBPA), offering both group and individual treatments for people with presentations including personality disorder, complex trauma and complex mood within the MK Community mental health hub.
Main duties of the job
* To conduct psychologically informed and specialised Arts, MBT, MBAP assessments, including assessment in relation to CEN pathway, of service-users referred to MK Community Mental Health Hub including appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources.
* To formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes across a range of complex problems with which service users present. Specific to NICE Guidance for individuals and groups, adjusting and refining the formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypothesis.
* To engage in clinical work that will involve working with individuals in intimate and emotionally intense individual and group sessions, where behaviour and communication might be unpredictable and challenging.
* To provide group and individual evidence-based interventions utilising arts, MBT verbal and MBAP programme, both face to face and via video zoom.
* To receive regular clinical supervision from a senior clinician and where appropriate other senior professional colleagues.
* To actively participate in personal development and performance reviews.
* To develop skills in the area of professional teaching, training and supervision.
All of the above requirements need to be achieved for the post holder to move onto band 7.
* To provide post-graduate training placements to trainees and other professionals, if appropriate.
* To actively participate in personal development reviews/appraisals of supervised staff.
* To identify and assess the need for training to the wider directorate and to members of the wider cross agency network as appropriate.
* To attend all mandatory training.
* To provide and ensure appropriate systems are in place for the clinical and professional supervision of trainee and students across the service.
* To contribute to developing expertise in the area of professional pre- and post- graduate training and clinical supervision.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
* Recent experience of working in a community mental health team in the NHS.
* Experience of working therapeutically with people with Personality Disorder, Complex mood and trauma.
* Experience of using MBT/Arts interventions with people with Personality disorder, both groups and individuals.
* Knowledge of, and ability to assess needs of people with complex emotional needs.
* MBT basic training.
Desirable
* Knowledge of Psycho-education and Problem Solving.
* Active participation in service planning and delivery.
Qualifications Essential
* Core Mental Health Profession and current live HCPC registration.
* Further substantial postgraduate training and/or qualifications in MBT to work with clients with complex presentations including personality disorder, complex trauma and complex mood.
Desirable
* Degree or Diploma relevant to the field of Personality Disorder, Complex Trauma or Complex Mood.
* MBT for Personality Disorder.
