Job summary
We are seeking Multiskilled Operatives to fulfil diverse roles we have within our COAST team. Providing a multi-skilled service to multiple business sectors including Cargo, Cruise and Ferry during peak seasons.
This will be on a fixed term contract starting April - September 25.
Hours will be a minimum average of 25 hrs per week over the contract period and holiday will be planned into your rota.
Shift allocation will be based on operational requirements. In this role, you'll be expected to fulfil the mentioned job roles along with any additional responsibilities to support the organisation.
Duties for this position will include:
* Mooring - securing vessels to the dock by tying/untying ropes (lines) to bollards
* Slinger/Signaller - Attaching/detaching the load to and from lifting equipment initiating and directing the safe movement of the lifting equipment and load
* Forklift operators - Manoeuvring goods around quayside and operational areas
* Passenger access - Operating the ship to shore passenger access (airbridge)
* Baggage handlers - Lifting luggage, assisting passengers to/from their vehicles
* Traffic Operatives - Acting as first point of contact for our customers, offering information and assistance with their journey through the port
Skills and Qualifications
* Previous experience with one or more of the above skills would be an advantage, but not essential as full training would be given
* Be able to work a range of shifts including weekends, as required.
* Physically active and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Have excellent communication skills.
* Ability to deliver empathetic customer service in challenging situations
* Full UK manual driving license (desirable)
