Starrycare is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Anaesthetist to join our expert medical team. As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality anesthesia services across a wide range of surgical specialties. You will provide expert leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior medical staff while working closely with surgeons, theatre staff, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality anaesthesia care for elective and emergency surgical procedures across a wide range of specialties.
Perform pre-operative assessments and develop individualized anesthetic plans tailored to patient needs.
Administer anesthesia and monitor patients during surgical procedures, ensuring safety and comfort at all times.
Lead post-operative recovery and pain management strategies, ensuring effective patient recovery.
Collaborate with surgeons, theatre staff, and ICU teams to ensure integrated, patient-centered care.
Provide leadership in managing critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), particularly those requiring advanced anesthesia techniques.
Take part in the on-call rota for emergency anesthesia services.
Supervise, train, and mentor junior doctors, anaesthetic trainees, and other healthcare professionals.
Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and research to enhance patient safety and service delivery.
Lead and contribute to clinical governance activities to ensure compliance with safety protocols and best practices.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, contributing to complex patient management decisions.
Requirements:
Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) or equivalent in Anaesthetics.
Substantial experience working as a Consultant Anaesthetist or in a senior anaesthetic role.
Demonstrated expertise in delivering anesthesia for a broad range of procedures, including complex and emergency cases.
Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, particularly in critical care or emergency settings.
Commitment to professional development, teaching, and mentorship of junior staff.
Desirable:
Fellowship or additional qualification in a sub-specialty such as pain management, intensive care, or obstetric anesthesia.
Active involvement in clinical research and publication of work in peer-reviewed journals.
Advanced life support certifications (ALS, ATLS, PALS) or equivalent.
