The Healthcare Support Worker will work collaboratively with the Nurse to administer first aid and assist with patient care, including simple clinical procedures and supporting children with medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and epilepsy. Responsibilities include keeping and updating computerized and paper records, assisting with dispensing medications under the direction of the Nurse, in line with the school medication protocols.
Essential qualities include being a team player, empathetic, approachable, an excellent communicator, well-organized, and demonstrating initiative. A high level of confidentiality and integrity is essential, along with a minimum of 1 year’s experience working with young people in a pastoral or medical setting.
When no medical support is required, mental health support may be needed in the absence of our mental health support worker. Candidates must be robust and able to cope in often stressful and sometimes upsetting situations.
We seek a highly motivated, autonomous individual to assist in delivering high-quality care to students and staff. The candidate must be able to work unsupervised during the school day across both school sites in the absence of the school nurse and will be required to take on medical responsibility in the nurse’s absence.
The role of Healthcare Support Worker is part of our exceptional Student Support team, which provides key support for the learning and welfare of all students. The team is led by a Deputy Headteacher and includes Family Liaison Managers, School Counsellors, school nurses, and Student Services Receptionists.
Application Closing Date: Wednesday 27 November 2024, 9AM

Early applications are advised as the School reserves the right to appoint at any stage during the application process.
The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post. As this role involves 'regulated activity' with children, the successful applicant will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure application. Employment will be conditional upon the College being satisfied with the result of the Enhanced DBS check and the outcome of all other checks.
The School will also carry out a check of the Children's Barred List on the successful applicant. It is unlawful for the School to employ anyone to work with children if they are barred from doing so, and it is a criminal offence for a person to apply to work with children if they are barred from doing so.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and the School is therefore permitted to ask shortlisted applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) to assess their suitability to work with children.
