The day to day duties of a Butchery Packer include picking and packing meat to a high standard, ready for distribution to customers, in accordance with safety legislation.
Some responsibilities of the role include:
1. To package all meat in accordance with the company specification guidelines
2. To ensure that all fridges, preparation rooms and freezers are kept as clean and tidy as possible
3. Have a comprehensive knowledge of all the companies’ products
4. Adhere to companies’ personal hygiene policy
5. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, managers, suppliers and any visitors
6. Operate packing machine in a safe and professional manner, as per the manufacturer’s instructions
7. Report any machine maintenance problems immediately to the supervisor
8. Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility
9. Operate labelling machine to print off labels for all the products
10. Understand the importance of best before dates
11. Be aware of any products falling below the required standard, and reject these products as necessary
12. Load products into large trays safely without damage to the products
13. Operate the metal detector machine in a safe and professional manner, as per the manufacturer’s instructions
