Overview
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a Deputy Head of Communications to enhance the council’s strategic communications efforts and realise its vision. The successful candidate will exemplify and instil the council’s values and behaviours, working in close collaboration with Members, officers, partners, and stakeholders. This role leads on the council’s communications and engagement – managing a small team delivering design, internal communications, consultation and engagement and the council’s publications – a weekly newsletter and quarterly printed magazine.
The successful candidate will be one of two Deputy Head of Communications, supporting and deputising for the Head of Communications.
About You
The successful applicant will have:
* Experience of development and delivery of communications strategies including online, news, media, digital and campaigns.
* Experience of budget management within a marketing and communications environment.
* Experience of overseeing design, digital and print projects.
* Experience of developing and delivering campaigns designed to secure organisational objectives.
* Experience of working in a political environment, skills in understanding and responding to different perspectives and taking a cross organisational perspective.
* Provide guidance on complex decisions/cases/projects within the council and the communications team, which impact on the council’s profile, reputation or service level.
* Ability to develop, manage and deliver complex and high-risk communications campaigns and projects, to meet service requirements and to ensure the best outcomes for both customers and the council.
* Strong ability to lead, motivate, enthuse, inform and develop people, both within the team and those in other departments.
* Clear understanding and commitment to equality and diversity.
