We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Level 2 Highways Maintenance Operative Apprentice to join our dynamic Area 12 team.
Job Title: Highways Maintenance Operative Apprentice – Level 2
Duration: 21 months
Starting Salary: £23,926 (subject to 2025 review)
Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 7.30am - 3.30pm, (19.30 - 5.30 night shift)
Location: Shillinghill Depot Knottingley WF11 0BU
Responsibilities:
* Attend project and work briefings as required.
* Drive/operate vehicles/plant requiring general and specialist skills including vehicle checks, routine maintenance (e.g. oil and water checks), and cleaning.
* Perform all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils’ works, litter picking, etc.
* Participate in winter maintenance operations.
* Respond to emergency call out operations.
* Ensure safety compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and protect members of the public.
* Carry out vehicle checks prior to shift starting and fill in defect books.
* Record Drivers hours.
* Allocate and capture time and resource utilization in line with operated allocation system.
* Keep records, complete all necessary paperwork, and communicate with other employees, sub-contractors, emergency services, police, public, clients, and customers.

What You’ll Bring:
Qualifications:
* Level 1 in English and Maths, or GCSE in grade of 2-3 (E-D).
* Candidates without Level 1 in English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.
* Full UK Driving License.
