We are looking for a highly motivated and technically minded individual to contribute to the advancement of our Tax Technology & Transformation Strategy and support the growing demand for technology related change and transformation projects across a range of tax domains. A successful candidate will have a solid background in tax (indirect, direct, or, preferably, a blend of both) and a strong understanding of tax reporting and accounting, paired with subject matter expertise in the design, implementation and configuration of tax technology and data-oriented solutions.

You will work on a portfolio of complex projects ranging from urgent compliance needs to long-term multi-year deliveries, and be expected to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholder teams to enhance tax data, implement innovative solutions, and optimize tax processes, from planning through to execution and implementation.
Reporting to an Executive Director responsible for Tax Transformation & Technology, this role will place you at the forefront of how J.P. Morgan responds to the ‘digitisation’ of tax authorities across the globe, focusing on bolstering our tax data and analytics capabilities to ensure readiness for future compliance challenges.
Job Responsibilities
* Conduct reviews and document tax process flows across different groups and jurisdictions to identify opportunities for simplification and efficiency gains, capturing and structuring business requirements from a tax perspective.
* Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Technology and other project teams, and effectively articulate tax data, technology and reporting requirements, ensuring cohesive strategy execution.
* Provide insights and recommendations on system and technical components, business intelligence and automation solutions, to incorporate into tax process optimization reviews.
* Produce technical documentation and conduct impact analysis and detailed design sessions with Technology and other project teams, and conduct quality assurance to ensure completeness of requirements.
* Review test results in technology change initiatives, ensuring that tax requirements are correctly implemented in the systems.
* Collaborate with firmwide data management and governance teams in the Bank to define and maintain robust tax data quality standards.
* Conduct tax process risk assessments, and collaborate with firmwide risk advisory teams to define and review process controls.
* Oversee the Technology book of work in respect of tax requirements and ensure that strategic objectives are adhered to and key priorities are on track.
* Monitor market developments, including relevant legislative changes, and translate these into actionable inputs for our project teams.
* Support the Tax Technology and Transformation team in the advancement of the long-term tax technology strategy.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities
* Experience gained in an in-house tax role or professional practice, akin to Experienced Manager / Senior Manager level.
* Experience in tax process improvement and complex tax technology projects with accelerated schedules.
* Experience in tax project / programme management and liaison with technology, operations and finance stakeholder teams.
* Interest in understanding and developing knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. SAP), Business Intelligence and Data Analytics solutions, Robotic Process Automation, and AI/ML solutions.
* Tax technical know-how and practical experience with indirect / direct tax reporting and accounting practices.
* Experience gathering and interpreting tax function requirements, and designing, implementing and testing tax technology solutions.
* Strong interpersonal, team and communication skills, making complex tax or technology matters simple to a non-technical audience.
* A collaborative team player who is committed to lifelong learning.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities
* Accounting or Tax qualification preferable but not essential.
* Experience working in operational direct and/or indirect tax, with a focus on tax technology solutions (e.g. Vertex, OneSource), and tax data quality.
* Project management expertise, including organizational and change management skills.
* Experience with data analytics and intelligent solutions including Alteryx, PowerBI, Tableau, or equivalent.
* Experience in the Financial Services sector.
