Junior Buyer The Role As a Junior Buyer at Geary’s, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimising our purchasing processes. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you will collaborate with internal teams, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver cost-effective solutions and support the continued growth of our business. You will have the opportunity to make a real impact within the company and develop your skills in procurement. The main responsibilities include: Maintain and update spend data for your assigned categories, ensuring it’s accurate and accessible. Assist in setting up and updating contracts with indirect suppliers, aiming to reduce costs and complexity. Negotiate supplier contracts, focusing on securing better prices, terms, and conditions. Monitor and manage the preferred supplier list across key areas of the business. Provide support to the Purchasing team for direct materials, covering holidays and assisting with administrative tasks. Collaborate with the NPD team to ensure new materials align with purchasing strategies. Be a point of escalation for supply chain and technical issues within your categories, helping to resolve them quickly. Work on projects to improve processes, reduce costs and enhance efficiency across the business. Produce monthly reports on spend, contracts and project progress. What we’re looking for: A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a professional environment. Strong multitasking skills and the ability to work independently. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). A problem-solving mindset with a keen ability to handle challenges effectively. A degree or equivalent qualification is preferred, with evidence of quickly mastering new subjects. Experience in food manufacturing or a similar industry is an advantage. A positive, self-driven attitude with a commitment to learning and development.
