The Production Technical Inspector within GMA is responsible for production inspection on a daily basis to achieve production of high-quality vehicles across all models undertaken by Gordon Murray Automotive.
In this role, you will become part of the team to ramp up production at a low-volume, cutting-edge automotive manufacturing operation. You will be responsible for the inspection of the iStream Primary structure, iStream superlight frame structures, sub-assemblies, and parts. You will work with the Manufacturing Engineering team and production team to ensure process targets are met for production.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Establish strong team member relations, at all levels with a focus on teamwork and inclusion.
2. Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering team members.
3. Operate inspection machinery and tools on a low-volume production process.
4. Quality check for any defects, labeling finished products.
5. Work towards production targets.
6. Support production, trials, and training activities.
7. Support new model activities.
8. Support problem-solving activities within the team.
9. Be available to work overtime, during shutdowns, and travel as needed.
10. Work together with GMA/GMAE Engineering members to continuously improve/develop manufacturing processes.
11. Computer literacy required – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
12. Communication skills – to be able to liaise and convey points effectively to others.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
1. Metrology, inspection methods, and equipment including measurement arm/scanning experience.
2. Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.
3. Experience in macro checks of arc welding.
4. Understanding of manufacturing processes, low-volume automotive manufacturing preferred.
5. Working knowledge of problem-solving methodologies e.g., 8D.
6. Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
7. Knowledge of welded Aluminium structures (structural) and/or composites (structural or visual/painted panels), bonding, plastic mouldings, exterior trim, as well as experience and knowledge in assembly processes.
8. Planning and prioritizing of activities.
9. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
10. Negotiation skills.
11. Work closely with other QA members within GMA.
12. Ability to present data effectively.
13. Understanding of Health and Safety practices.
14. Catia V5 (or alternative CAD system) experience for dimensional verification to specification.
15. 5 years relevant experience at an appropriate company or OEM is anticipated.
16. Experience of full product life-cycle activities and ability to achieve quality, cost, and delivery targets for production.
17. Proficiency in cross-functional, cross-company, and cross-sectional processes.
18. Must be a team player who can work closely with other teams.
