Care Assistants, or Care Workers, are responsible for helping people in need in their day to day lives. As a Care Assistant, you’ll generally be working with less able, seriously ill, or elderly people who need support with things many of us take for granted. It can be a very demanding job, but also highly rewarding, as you’re having a positive impact on people’s lives every day.

In terms of qualifications, while there are often no official requirements from employers, they can certainly help. Learning more about the profession and gaining additional qualifications through an apprenticeship scheme may also be possible.
As a Senior Care Assistant, you will lead and inspire a team of committed care staff, ensuring that residents receive the highest standard of care. You will also need to have a Level 3 or Advanced Diploma in Health & Social Care. Previous experience as a Care Assistant or in a similar role is preferred but not required.
