Sheffield Hallam University are seeking an outstanding individual to teach within the field of computer games design and development. In the subject group of Games and Artificial Intelligence. The Games and Artificial Intelligence Subject Group is responsible for delivering our BSc(Hons) Computer Games Technologies and BSc(Hons) Computer Science for Games. The role is to deliver high-quality learning experiences to students along with module leadership and delivery, contributing your specialist topics, supervising dissertations, liaising with industrial partners, and engaging in academic and applied research. You will also be assisting in the development of new and exciting courses at both UG & PG levels. You will have knowledge of practical and theoretical issues in computer games development. You will possess a good honours degree and postgraduate qualification or substantial professional experience in computer science, software engineering or games development. We will especially consider applicants with recent experience of Unreal Engine and/or Unity game development, including C# programming, as well as experience with their environments and supporting tools but we will also consider applicants with related skills. Please note that we are not looking for applicants in artificial intelligence in games at this time. The School has an in-house game development studio called ‘Steel Minions’. This is an in-house publishing company run by course tutors and staffed by students and enables students to release their own projects commercially and deals with external publishers, research and commercial clients. Steel Minions facilitates the provision of commercial and research projects for students to work on, either generated internally or from external clients. Examples include research projects in ballistics impact visualisation and educational games, through to commercial game successes on PlayStation4, PC and mobile devices for companies like Sumo Digital, Sony and Owlerton Stadium. Steel Minions provides mentoring to students who decide to create their own game development company during their industrial placement year and gives feedback to students working on game projects throughout the course, from a commercial and industrial perspective.
