Full time WTE (37.5 hours per week) - though this could be part time if a suitable job share is identified.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in our friendly psychological therapies team within our Community Adult Mental Health Service. This post would suit a recently qualified psychologist or a CBT therapist with experience of working with complex cases. We would also welcome applications from trainee psychologists who may be about to qualify in the next few months (in this case, applicants are appointed initially on a band 6 until they receive HCPC registration, at which point this is upgraded to band 7).
As part of the service, you will contribute to the provision of a specialist psychological therapies service across the Adult Community Mental Health Service. This will entail working with a range of clinical presentations, including complex PTSD, Psychosis, OCD, personality disorders, and complex anxiety and depression. You will be delivering specialist individual and group interventions and providing advice and consultation to our multi-disciplinary team colleagues. There are opportunities to grow and develop your skills within the service.
Main duties of the job
To ensure the systematic provision of a specialist clinical/counselling psychology service to clients with complex MUS and severe and enduring mental health problems within the MHLT services. To provide expertise in a specialist clinical or research area and to offer advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to other members of the teams in relation to the area of expertise. To work closely with the MHLT and the range of multi-disciplinary colleagues within the service setting. To work effectively as a member of multi-disciplinary teams.
Job responsibilities
To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the teams, based upon the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations, and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members, and others involved in the clients' care.
To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client's complex mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions including CBT and Systemic approaches for individuals, carers, families, and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family, or group.

Experience
* Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of clients
* Experience of cognitive and neuropsychological assessment
* Experience of working with severe and enduring MH problems (e.g. psychosis or PD)
* Experience of using at least one evidence-based psychological therapy
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Knowledge of physical illness and impacts of psychological health
* Training in additional psychological models (e.g. CBTp/CAT/CFT/EMDR/DBT/schema/systemic)
