Job overview
Yarl’s Wood IRC is an immigration removal center with a total operational capacity of 410. Yarl’s Wood holds a majority of male IRC residents, a small unit for male short term holds and a new unit for up to 50 female IRC residents.
This role is to work as part of the Healthcare team, providing support to residents and the healthcare team, ensuring safe working practice in a secure environment in accordance with the IRC and Home office rules, detention service orders (DSO). The post holder will provide the role of a clinic receptionist booking patients in and out on the clinical system, liaising with clinical and prison staff to ensure the smooth running of clinics, providing an efficient and effective front-line service. The post holder will need to develop strong links with centre staff, can communicate to a high level, be reliable and able to work flexibly and autonomously. The post holder will be expected to wear uniform in line with NHFT uniform policy.
Main duties of the job
1. To ensure a timely and efficient service is provided by maintaining good practices and ensuring excellent communication and working relationships.
2. To ensure good working relationships exist across the prison, NHS, and other agencies.
3. To act as initial point of contact for enquiries from professionals, managers, and prison staff.
4. To organise multi-disciplinary team meetings to include preparation of all required documents, venue organisation, minute taking and transcribing.
5. Managing arrangements for visitors e.g., Trust visitors, external healthcare staff and services, which includes greeting, escorting and advising on Prison Protocol, security, and safety.
6. To liaise with other outside agencies with a view to providing healthcare, while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
7. To liaise closely with security to ensure hospital appointments can go ahead as arranged.

Knowledge and experience
* Intermediate/Advanced level in Excel and Word.
* Knowledge of Systmone.
* Understanding of patient confidentiality.
* Ability to accurately input and manipulate data.
* NVQ level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
Skills
* Good communication skills (verbal and written).
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritising and managing own workload and working to deadlines.
* Flexible and adaptable.
* Managing an unpredictable work stream on a daily basis with frequent interruptions.
* Able to deal with interruptions/queries from colleagues throughout the day.
