Opportunities are available for Innovation & Deployment Engineers within the Future Capability team based at either Bristol or Castle Donington.
The Future Capability Team is responsible for creating and delivering a wide range of research, development and capability scale up projects which aim to transform the way we operate and manage our network. Through these projects, we are building the knowledge, skills, technologies and commercial processes NGED needs in order to be ready for the future.
This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are motivated to develop the capabilities that electricity networks will need in future. The role requires an individual that strives for excellence in every output they produce.
A Degree in an engineering discipline is preferred, however candidates with extensive experience in distribution network investments or operations, along with a minimum BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) engineering qualification will be considered.
Evidence of your stated qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

Main Responsibilities
Leading the application for funding from Ofgem innovation incentive schemes and other sources across all sizes of bid.
Planning, development and delivery of innovation and roll out projects of all is sizes and scopes.
Management of research, development and capability roll out projects in accordance with Ofgem governance and NGED policies
Assisting colleagues in various internal NGED teams to develop, trial, disseminate and adopt relevant solutions.
Developing new policy relating to future network capabilities.
Representing NGED at national level in ENA, Ofgem and Government department meetings.
Developing and reviewing NGED policies relating to innovation to maintain legal and regulatory compliance.
Detailed reporting of projects and proposals in accordance with regulatory requirements. This includes compliance with Regulatory Guidance, preparation of detailed project plans and cost benefit analyses, progress and cost control monitoring and regulatory reporting.
The Ideal CandidateTo help develop the capabilities of the future, it is important that candidates for this role have an aptitude to:
Develop detailed project plans that can deliver research and development activities in a manner that control uncertainty and risk on tasks that may not have ever been done before.
Develop detailed project plans that can deliver roll out of capability across the business
Develop cost benefit assessments for funding
Monitor projects for progress towards objectives and mitigation of risk
Contribution to critical evaluation of new technologies and methods for alignment with strategic objectives
It is essential to be able to organise, plan and prioritise work while working under pressure in order to ensure that every task is delivered on time. It is required to have good knowledge of the UK Electricity transmission and distribution assets, procedures and drivers relating to safety, performance, cost and relevant legislation.
The successful candidate must be mobile throughout the company’s four licence areas and therefore a full UK driving licence is essential.
