Strategic Sourcing Manager – Ice Cream

Dale Farm is a leading dairy company supplying a wide range of consumer and food ingredients including fresh milk, cheeses, butter/dairy spreads, and ice cream into the UK, Irish and international markets.
Core to our success is our people, and we now have an opportunity for a key role within our Ice Cream team, based at our Head Office site on Dargan Road, Belfast.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Ice Cream within the commercial team, this specialist role will be responsible for the management of ice cream supplier relationships to effectively achieve the business objectives.
The core responsibilities of this role include:
1. Procurement and Supplier management
2. Develop strong relationships with our existing & new Europe-based private label manufacturers.
3. Manage supplier selection, onboarding & contract renewals.
4. Evaluate the long-term compatibility of suppliers with DF & any intangible value added to mitigate risk.
5. Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations & risk assessments.
6. Lead the seasonal range changes within the category, co-ordinating a cross functional team within our business to ensure efficient & effective transitions.
7. Collect & analyse procurement data, forward planning for any anticipated market changes.
8. Business Improvement
9. Improve & implement procurement policies in relation to Ice Cream aligned to group objectives.
10. Assess procedures & processes across IC division to ensure effective cost management.
11. Asset Management
12. Overseeing the supply and distribution of IC assets (freezers & POS) including contracts.
13. Managing Supplier relationships for supply and maintenance of assets.
14. Effective tracking of assets, cost analysis and evaluating the ROI of assets.
About You
The Essential
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a category/procurement role, with the ability to demonstrate effective selection & development of supplier partnerships.
They will be skilled in communication, with an ability to adapt across a range of both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a professional and collaborative approach to conflict management.
We are looking for a candidate who can think strategically with regards to decision making and planning. Continuous improvement, and a proactive desire to implement measured changes where appropriate.
The candidate will be a dynamic and organised individual who has experience in establishing and delivering against KPIs, financial plans, and objectives, and who has experience in requirement planning and asset management. Attention to detail and effective time management will be critical for this role.
They will be able to bring credibility, knowledge, and skill to the role, demonstrating leadership and a track record of achievement needed to succeed in a fast-paced environment, while assuming an innovative approach to problem-solving.
Full MS Office proficiency required.
The Desirable
Ideally, we would like to see candidates with previous experience in the Food industry, and/or working with European-based suppliers and providers. Higher level qualifications in procurement & supply (or related field) would be advantageous.
