JOB DESCRIPTION
Part-time Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 43 year old woman living in the Church Village area. I have a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
I require a PA to help me with day to day tasks. I use a wheelchair but am able to transfer. I can only use a walker for a few steps but not outside. I want someone to work alongside me as a second pair of hands to assist me when I may struggle. Maintaining my independence is important to me.
PURPOSE OF JOB
I value my independence very much so only need a PA to assist me as and when I ask.
HOURS OF WORK
10 hours per week, evening and weekend work is required
RATES OF PAY
£13.00 p/h
Plus 40p mileage allowance
TASKS INVOLVED
Regularly going on social outings like out for a meal or coffee and cake
Assistance to go shopping at Tesco, or to the pharmacy to collect a prescription
Taking me to monthly hospital appointments and other appointments as required – dentist, hairdresser
Minimal support dressing after a shower, only putting on knickers/trousers as I struggle to bend down to do this task. I can pull them up on my own though.
Vacuum upstairs and take cleaning products upstairs to complete any cleaning chores upstairs
Cleaning the bathroom
Bring dirty laundry downstairs for washing and taking clean laundry upstairs
Any other reasonable task
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Someone who can follow instructions and fulfil the task as required but only when requested
You mustn’t want to take over, rather allow me to maintain my independence and only step in if I ask
Someone who will seek my permission first before doing anything as I don’t like my independence been taken away

ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given.
The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK.
