Broadwick Spaces is a business within the company that is composed of three divisions: Broadwick Spaces, Broadwick Partner Spaces and Spaces & Stories. The Broadwick Spaces division includes venues we own or lease and host client events as well as music and culture. The Broadwick Partner Spaces includes venues we manage or operate with external partners; they focus on client hires. Spaces & Stories is Broadwick portfolio sales agency.
Our team:
Located on the Greenwich Peninsula, Magazine London opened in September 2019 and is one of the largest purpose-built hybrid spaces in London. The venue offers a striking blank canvas for culture and commerce and is a unique opportunity for brands and businesses to interact with global and local audiences. Magazine boasts a capacity of up to 4,000 people internally and up to a further 7,000 across the venue’s outdoor spaces. The site hosts a wide variety of events including conference and exhibitions, award ceremonies, brand events, filming, parties and cultural ticketed events.

What we’re looking for:
We are looking for an exceptional business leader to define the operational plan, in collaboration with the Head of Spaces.
This person will be an expert in venue operation policies and procedures in order to champion best practice across the team. They will lead the strategy on all our venue event operations, operational activation of new venues.

What you’ll be accountable and responsible for:
Operations
* Ensuring operational process and property management is of the highest standard across all of your spaces.
* Ensuring the smooth handover of events from the sales to the operations team and developing the best practice for each space.
* Being responsible for the sign off of clients and their suppliers’ documentation and licences to ensure all are in line with the spaces and their requirements.
* Leading in creating and developing processes and procedures for use internally, by suppliers and clients to ensure that planning and communication between all parties is smooth and effective.
* Identifying and leading on longer term internal projects such as building a reliable bank of freelance talent or wider supplier SLAs.
* Having oversight of each spaces’ staffing and service requirements for security, cleaning, crew and stewarding.
* Manage the running of allocated events. Support or lead with the planning and operations on multiyear, key high value clients or complex contracts.
* Collating and devising required documentation, activation budgets, compiling competitor analysis and other relevant tasks.
* Maintaining strong relations with our Landlords and other stakeholders.
* Overseeing the day-to-day running of the spaces.
* Being a support to the other Broadwick Spaces’ operational teams when required.
Finance
* Being responsible for keeping the operations team to budget, ensuring commercial best practice is implemented throughout the team to maximise yield.
* Managing the operations & space overheads section of the P&L for each space.
* Ensuring we are being given the best possible rates from suppliers.
Sales
* Working with the Head of Spaces to ensure operational compliance and championing and enabling growth across Broadwick Spaces.
* Attending site visits pre-contract where necessary to lend support to the sales team.
* Maximising sales and upselling at all opportunities.
New Spaces
* Consulting and advising on operations for new space acquisitions as and when required.
* Assisting the Director of Spaces and Head of Spaces in the delivery of new space activations as and when required.
Team
* Liaising with the People team and company payroll across salaries, overtime, new starters/leavers and management of the bonus in partnership with the line manager.
* Supporting the line manager with resource planning and leading on operations and property management recruitment for your team.
* Leading on the performance management and development of direct line reports.
* Managing People/HR proceedings as required.
* Working with the line manager to identify training needs and guiding team development.
* Creating a work environment that aligns with Broadwick values and principles.
Other
* Carrying out ad hoc duties when required to.
You’ll need to have:
* Minimum of 5 years of event operations experience, ideally in a high volume events venue or portfolio.
* Previous experience of managing, influencing and inspiring venue operation teams.
* Exceptional knowledge of industry legislations, general event licensing and documentation required pre-event.
* Exceptional organisational and planning skills.
* Ability to keep calm, work under pressure and problem solve quickly.
* Experience of producing, managing and delivering an operational budget, P+Ls and financial reports in conjunction with finance teams.
* Exceptional organisational and planning skills.
* Confidence in briefing contractors and suppliers.
* An excellent understanding of H&S, compliance and environmental legislation and codes of practice.
* A reasonable level of competency using Microsoft and Google Drive software, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel.
* Self-motivation in addition to a positive and ‘can-do’ attitude in order to achieve tasks efficiently and to deadlines.
* Great understanding and knowledge of the local event and venue industry.
* Availability to work late nights and weekends as and when required.
