We are offering an exciting opportunity for a band 5 staff nurse who is already working in the trust to join the Outpatient Nursing team for a secondment opportunity for 12 months over the winter.
The post is for 37.5 hour per week contract, over 5 working days, although part-time would be considered. The post is predominantly Monday to Friday but it may include evening and weekend work as service need dictates.
We are a multi-site, multi-specialty service and the post holder will be expected to work within a busy Fracture and Orthopedic Department and also across our medical and surgical clinics.
You will be a 1st Level Nurse with evidence of ongoing professional development. Car owner/driver is essential as we are a multi-site service.

Main duties of the job
* The post holder is responsible for providing effective care for patients accessing the Out-patient services. The post holder will be responsible/accountable for providing clinical patient care and managing/supervision of a specified clinic across a range of services and sites.
* The post holder is expected to adhere to all local and Trust Policies and Procedures.
* The post holder is expected to carry out all forms of care without supervision, and may be required to demonstrate procedures, to and supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff.
* The post holder is expected to ensure patients attending clinics are provided with the correct information regarding their care and after care within the department.
* The post holder is expected to plan their route between off-site clinics to ensure they are able to commence clinics timely.
* To take a lead role in some areas of service improvement.

Job responsibilities
* Independently manage and support the clinical care provided to a specified clinic effectively and efficiently: Venepuncture.
* Wound care management.
* Orthopedic appliance application (e.g. slings/wrist supports).
* Removal of sutures/clips.
* Application of venous thrombolysis stockings.
* Assisting with Banding of Piles.
* Liaison with multi-disciplinary teams.
* Completion of safeguarding referrals and monitoring of safeguarding issues.
* Supporting Clinicians with ear syringing and scoping within the ENT department.
* Preparing patient documentation and accurate recordkeeping.
* Adhering to the Chaperone Policy.
* Adhering to Safeguarding Policies and Procedures.
* Adhering to Data Protection and Information Governance Policies and Procedures.
* Chaperoning.
* Supervision and support of HCA staff.
* In the absence of band 6 and band 7, act in a coordinating and supervising role if required.
Person Specification
Skills and knowledge
* NMC Registration.
* Car owner/driver.
