As an apprentice you would be involved in delivering construction/improvement projects as well as undertaking the maintenance works across South Lanarkshire Council's property portfolio.\n\nThis may involve you working on refurbishments, new builds, listed buildings, schools, leisure complexes as well as maintaining community properties. \n\nThe apprentice Painter will work from our Hamilton Business Unit, however will be requried to move sections/Business Units to ensure they cover all aspects of our business. The successful candidates will be given the opportunity to learn all the skills required, both practical and theoretical, to become a qualified and time served Painter, through a mixture of on-the-job experience working alongside qualified/experienced tradespeople and off the job experience at college, gaining the underpinning knowledge and the recognised qualifications required for a Painter. During your training you will also develop your core and meta skills, naturally through the work you are carry out. These opportunities are for trainees and therefore do not require you to have any experience in your chosen trade. \nYou must meet the essential criteria - \nBy having recently attended a South Lanarkshire Council High School and/or live in the South Lanarkshire Area. \nYou must be 16 years of age by 26/09/2025 and no older than 19 years of age by 06/08/2025. \nSouth Lanarkshire Council and Skills Development Scotland recognise that disabled people and those who are care experienced can face challenges on their career journey.
