At Leigh Vets for Pets, we have aspirations to grow our practice further and are now looking for an ambitious Veterinary Surgeon to join us in a leadership role on this journey.
This is the perfect steppingstone for an experienced vet to progress into leadership and inspire the current team, whilst being instrumental in the direction the practice takes. You will have the opportunity to learn on the job and work closely with the Practice Manager in the day-to-day running of the practice, with support from our highly knowledgeable regional team.
Our Practice Manager, Sara, started with us in January 2018 where she worked her way up to Assistant Manager before taking the Practice Manager role. We have a very open and honest culture in practice, which explains why we have retained most of our team from day one. Work/life balance is taken seriously at Leigh Vets for Pets as we think a happier team is a better-performing team; our diary is managed to a level where our vets don't feel overloaded, and the support from our nursing team certainly makes work a pleasant experience for all involved.
Our surgery is purpose-built to deliver the highest clinical standards and provides excellent facilities, giving you access to all the equipment and space you need to care for your patients. We are RCVS accredited and hold the ISFM silver cat-friendly award, and are now working towards our RWAF accreditation.
We already have a loyal client base with the potential for further growth, and cases can be worked up locally giving you the opportunity to develop any specific interests you have, with certification encouraged and fully funded. We're also keen to learn new things from you, so if you have previously done CPD, we want to hear all about it! We're always open to trialling new ideas and work closely together with the aim of providing the best care for our patients and a great client experience from phone call to consult.
As well as a career path built for you and a salary up to £85,000 with a £5,000 relocation/welcome bonus*, we offer all the benefits you'd expect from a major employer (pension, healthcare, paid memberships, etc.) plus a few more, such as development opportunities and exclusive lifestyle and shopping discounts (up to 30% off at Pets at Home). We're also happy to provide relocation packages from within or outside the UK, including visa sponsorship if needed (we're an A+ rated sponsor).
This position can be fully flexible hours, full or part-time. Weekends are on a fair rota basis shared with the rest of the team, and there's no on-call or OOH requirement. You should be confident in routine surgical and medical cases and comfortable with sole charge.
We're conveniently situated on the large Parsonage Way Retail Park, which allows unlimited free parking and access to loads of high street brands. Leigh also has a very traditional town centre which hosts daily indoor and outdoor markets and is partially pedestrianised. The A580 known as the East Lancs Road is close by, which was the UK's first purpose-built intercity highway connecting Liverpool to Manchester and East Lancashire, thus giving easy access to both cities for shopping and nightlife, as well as lots of countryside destinations including the Pennines and the Lake District, via the North West's motorway network.
Pets just see people. And just like pets, we embrace everyone's differences. We work to break down barriers, attract and develop diverse talent, and create a culture that allows everyone to be the best they can be.
Our diversity and inclusion vision is that everyone is welcome and feels part of our business. So, if you think you're a good match to what we are looking for, and you share our belief that together 'we're better with pets', we're waiting to hear from you, whatever your background or circumstances.
