We have ambitious plans to increase income and raise funds through a new trading subsidiary. The trustees will ensure the charity is well-governed, meeting its objectives & responsibilities, as well as being innovative. What difference will you make? As a Trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the strategic progression of the charity. Your knowledge one of the local communities of Leicestershire, Peterborough & Rutland, and your compassion for what the RSPCA Woodside do, will be integral to this role. What are we looking for? Trustee/Director responsibilities To set and maintain the vision and values across all aspects of the work of the Charity. To establish policies which are appropriate and reviewed regularly to ensure the running of the branch is maintained effectively. To have governance and oversight of all aspects of the charity. To ensure financial stability and accountability. To oversee risk management, conflicts of interest and ethical compliance in all aspects of the work undertaken by the Branch. To be part of a Trustee/Trading Board who champion the role of the Charity, and share their expertise, organisational skills and knowledge to ensure the Branch can function appropriately within the local community. To ensure duties as set out by the Charity Commission and charity legislation are undertaken in a timely and effective manner. To work collaboratively with other trustees to safeguard assets, reputation and profile. To always act in the best interests of Woodside. To review any benefit to the Charity and ensure policies for investment and assets are adhered to. What will you be doing? We are currently in the process of setting up a private limited company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the parent charity, Woodside, and which has a veterinary suite with a vision of creating a commercial veterinary venture. There are several exciting opportunities to join the Board and be part of its success in the modernisation of the centre structure through innovation and forward thinking, to ensure the future of the charity. Therefore, we are seeking a number of Trustees with experience in one or more of following areas IT, Retail, Fundraising, Events Management, Business Development & Sponsorship, Property, Marketing, Animal Care, Research, and Political & Parliamentary, to add value to the vision and objective of the charity to further develop revenue streams which will in turn enable the charity to increase its reach in helping more animals in need. Strategic priorities include veterinary care, income generation, people & community, animal centre, leadership & governance, as well as monitoring the performance of the trading company and reviewing any investments to ensure good use of charity assets. Currently, income is raised through 7 charity shops, a pet shop within the centre, and by rehoming the centre animals, with further income via fundraising events, partnerships & campaigns, and generous support from the public. The charity needs director level experience, along with excellent communication skills, analytical & strategic, and bold & visionary thinkers, willingness to speak up, understanding of legal requirements, and people who believe in the values of Woodside which are Courage, Accountability, Integrity, Compassion, and Respect.
