Job summary NUH is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Trust Grade doctor at ST3 level or above to support one of the largest General Surgery departments in the UK. The post holder may rotate between specialties after 6 months in line with rotations if their preferences and service requirements allow. The post holder will contribute to out of hours on-call, and should therefore have completed core surgical training (or equivalent), have full MRCS, ALS and have experience working within the NHS. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest general surgery departments in the UK. Our services are provided across two main campuses (Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital) and deliver separate sub-specialist emergency care for Colorectal, UGI and HPB conditions, alongside general surgery. Our elective care is also delivered across both sites and is has recently changed in configuration with a brand new theatre complex and elective inpatient ward which opened at City campus in 2022. Main duties of the job The post holder will support various aspects of this busy service, with a commitment to out of hours on call. This may be based at City campus, or shared across both City and QMC rotas. The daytime role shall be affiliated to one of our elective services but may be modified to meet the specific requirements of the individual. Examples include research or quality improvement projects by mutual agreement with appropriate supervisors, or targeted clinical training, eg endoscopy (colonoscopy or EUS). The latter may be suitable for Out of Programme experience, if appropriate training programme approvals are confirmed.
