A bit about us:
Urchfont Primary is a thriving village school set in the beautiful village of Urchfont, near Devizes, Wiltshire.
We have 87 children at present with a PAN of 16. This enables the Headteacher to have the unique privilege of knowing every child and family personally. We work together to ensure our children can flourish socially, emotionally and academically.
The school is at the centre of a vibrant community, with a highly committed staff and a dedicated governing body. The last Ofsted Inspection in May 2023 judged the school as good, commenting “Pupils love learning at Urchfont”. As part of the Salisbury Diocese we have active links with the church and this is valued by parents.
The School is in process of joining EQUA-Mead Learning Trust, a family of like-minded schools, that collaborate to provide mutual support, share best practice and learn from each other, whilst retaining and developing each school’s individual and distinctive character. They are a Trust of seventeen primary schools, two secondary schools and eight nurseries, all based in Wiltshire. It is intended that we will have transferred by September 2025. The Governing Body have driven these changes and are excited, seeing real opportunities for a new Headteacher to make an impact and grow both the school and themselves.
All about the role:
We are searching for a Headteacher with vision, enthusiasm and leadership to take an active part in shaping the next stage in our journey of being a growing, successful village school within the wider community of EQUA Mead.
We want an enthusiastic Headteacher who is seeking to develop themselves in the role, bringing new ideas and fresh thinking and encouraging others to share their vision. Someone who will create a culture of inclusive continuous development and improvement within the school.
We need a Headteacher who is also an exceptional teacher, who wants to continue to teach as part of the role; there is a teaching commitment as well as curriculum leadership of a specific subject area, but they should also see it as a way of supporting staff by freeing time for their development.
The successful candidate will recognise the importance and value of developing a strong partnership with parents, governors and the local community.
We are looking for a Headteacher who:
* is an outstanding practitioner with recent teaching experience who will lead and motivate staff and children through the delivery of an exciting creative and inclusive curriculum and with a commitment to raising standards
* is a natural and experienced leader with vision, with a clear educational philosophy
* has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
* is an enabler who works in a collaborative style with all the dedicated and supportive stakeholders at Urchfont
* has high expectations for teaching and learning and ensures that all children can thrive and succeed
* is nurturing, passionate, compassionate, approachable and resilient
* can work alongside other Headteachers in EQUA Mead to learn, improve and share practice
We can offer you a good school in a beautiful village location with:
* children who have outstanding behaviour and who are happy and enthusiastic to come to school and learn
* a highly committed and hard-working staff team
* a welcoming inclusive school with a positive and caring environment with the desire to improve further
* a positive relationship with parents, our community and a supportive Governing Body
* opportunities for continued professional development and support within EQUA Mead
