Established in the early 2000s, the company has grown significantly, employing over 300 staff and producing products for some of the UKs major retailers, including Aldi, Lidl, Co-Op, and Home Bargains. The Role The NPD Technologist will play a key role in supporting the New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD) functions. The role involves hands-on execution of product development projects from concept to launch, ensuring smooth workflows, adherence to project timelines, and the delivery of innovative, commercially viable products. Reporting to the Head of NPD, the NPD Technologist will work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to meet project goals and maintain high standards of product quality and compliance. Duties Include: - Operational Execution Help deliver NPD and EPD projects, managing practical product development tasks under the Head of NPD's guidance. Prepare product samples for internal reviews and customer feedback. Ensure timely dispatch and correct labeling. - Documentation & Compliance Accurate record keeping for NPD projects ensuring regulatory and customer compliance. Gather supplier information for packaging and ingredient approvals. Ensure all products and processes meet food safety, quality, and regulatory standards, including HACCP and legal labelling requirements. - Project Coordination Monitor project timelines, updating the Head of NPD to keep projects on track. Assisting with daily operational issues and escalate larger problems as needed. - Market Research & Support Conduct market research to track trends, customer preferences, and competitor activity. Provide insights to assist the Head of NPD in decision-making. Participate in creative ideation sessions to develop new product ideas. - Continuous Improvement Identify ways to improve processes and contribute to more efficient operations. Stay up to date with industry trends and improve personal skills. Essential Skills & Attributes Passionate about food, with a creative culinary flair and enthusiasm for innovation. Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with stakeholders at all levels. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Self-motivated with a "can-do" attitude and a willingness to support team objectives. Desirable Skills & Experience A background in Food Technology (qualification or job-related experience) or interest in food. HACCP Level 2 or higher. Food Safety Level 2 or higher. Experience working in a factory/kitchen environment. Understanding of food packaging and materials. Other Full UK driving license (daily travel between sites and customer meetings is essential).
