Are you passionate about making a real difference in a child's life? Do you have the skills to support a child with SEN needs and slightly challenging behavior? We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Blackburn.
About the Role:
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with a child in Key Stage 1 who requires additional support due to their SEN needs and slightly challenging behavior. Your role will involve providing personalised assistance to help the child engage with learning activities, develop social skills, and overcome challenges. This position requires someone who can strike a balance between being firm when necessary and nurturing to ensure the child's well-being and academic progress.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one support to the child with SEN needs during classroom activities and structured learning sessions.
* Assist the child in understanding and completing tasks according to their individualised education plan.
* Foster a supportive and inclusive environment to encourage the child's social and emotional development.
* Implement behavior management strategies tailored to the child's needs, promoting positive behavior and self-regulation.
* Collaborate effectively with the classroom teacher and SENCO to assess progress and adjust support strategies as needed.
* Communicate regularly with parents/carers to provide updates on the child's progress and discuss any concerns or achievements.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children with SEN needs, preferably in a school setting.
* Understanding of behavior management techniques and strategies for supporting children with challenging behavior.
* Ability to build rapport with children and establish a trusting relationship.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with colleagues and parents/carers.
* Patience, empathy, and resilience to effectively support the child's learning and development.
* Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support or education (desirable but not essential).
