EMC Engineer - Permanent - Attractive - Electronics and Communications - Southeast - Defence
Due to expansion, an EMC Engineer is required within a leading and International Electronics and Communications Defence Systems Technology Company. The EMC Engineer will be one of the Technical Specialists to complement the existing team and will work with other members of the engineering teams on EMC Governance, Standards, and Projects.
The EMC Engineer will be responsible for guiding the designs and testing of one or more EMC projects simultaneously, within the UK Operational Business Unit, which delivers multiple concurrent research, development, and production programmes. The EMC Engineer will work with the hardware, software, and firmware development teams as required, across multiple sites.
Responsibilities for the EMC Engineer
1. Keep up to date with relevant EMC standards and governance.
2. Participate in EMC requirements reviews and contribute to applicable EMC standards.
3. Review the relevant EMC test and control plans to ensure products will be adequately tested.
4. Liaise with EMC test houses to ensure they are trained on product & supporting equipment.
5. Visit EMC test houses during testing and resolve any issues as required.
6. Estimate time & effort required for EMC test activities to ensure cost & schedule adherence.
7. Work constructively with other project team members.
8. Actively contribute to design reviews, to ensure a collaborative working environment.
9. Explain technically complex concepts clearly to less technical/involved parties.
10. If and when EMC related failures arise, determine the cause and work with the engineers to find solutions which ideally should not require major changes to the hardware.
11. Manage security of information in Security Manual to ensure compliance with regulations.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required for the EMC Engineer
1. Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
2. Extensive experience of EMC requirements and testing.
3. Ability to investigate EMC failures and suggest corrective actions.
4. Proven track record of collaborative working with EMC test houses.
5. Experience of best practices for right-first-time design for EMC Products.
6. Current SC clearance or willingness to obtain one.
7. Must be able to obtain DV clearance also.
8. Willing to work at other company sites as and when required.
9. Able to produce technical EMC documents to acceptable standards.
10. Understanding of EMC engineering processes.
Security Clearance (SC) will be required due to the nature of the Defence products involved.
