The Road Safety Assistant will support the Safer Essex Roads Partnership (SERP) in delivering Vision Zero, aiming for zero road deaths or serious injuries in Essex by 2040. This role involves collaborating with SERP partners and the public to communicate key road safety messages, while actively contributing to the SERP annual plan through various projects.
You'll deliver tailored behavior change initiatives to a diverse audience, including students, businesses, and the public, often coordinating multi-agency events. Tracking progress, evaluating impact, and sharing best practices are essential.
A passion for road safety and strong communication skills are crucial to driving this mission forward.
The Role
• Work as part of a team delivering road safety interventions, raising awareness, educating and behavioural change sessions to children and adults.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with partner organisations, institutions, schools, colleges, community groups and special interest groups and businesses. Particularly supporting booking of visits, communicating with schools and colleges.
• Contribute to developing educational interventions, resources and materials to support delivery of Road Safety messages. Ordering and monitoring budget.
• Communicate relevant education activities to stakeholders and partners. Act as point of contact organising events and training and related areas of the delivery plan. Collecting data and maintaining communication of progress against targets in delivery plan.
• Responsible for health and safety for the activities undertaken, recording and reporting issues, vehicles checks, compliance, risk assessments for events and activities.
• Full UK driving license and is willing to travel. Preparedness to drive SERP vehicles (no special licence requirements). Driving to high standards exemplifying road safety principles.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills with willingness to develop as required, training can be provided if required. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and online meeting platforms e.g. Zoom or MS Teams.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• DBS check required.
