Job title: Senior Mechanical Engineer/ Senior Public Health Engineer (ANTHRO)
Location: Old Oak Common/ Acton
Salary: 80-90k
Job Summary:
To provide Mechanical and Public Health engineering support on the HS2 Old Oak Common project through design to completion. This will involve all stages from design, installation, testing and commissioning. Support to Mechanical and Public Health construction teams to ensure successful delivery from a HSE, programme, quality and compliance perspectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead a small Engineering team to deliver the design, installation and commissioning of either the Mechanical or Public Health scope of works at HS2 Old Oak Common Station.
2. Undertake Mechanical and Public Health design review in line with current project applicable HS2, NR, BS, EN and ISO standards.
3. Manage a 3rd party design consultant in delivering the design deliverables required for the project.
4. Liaise with the main Contractor (BBVS), HS2 and HS2’s Designers (WSP) to review comments and agree an efficient way forward.
5. Ensure design risk assessment is compliant with installation parameters.
6. Participate in HazID, HazOP and HazCON’s as required by the client.
7. Provide engineered solutions to key project problems to satisfy clients expectations.
8. Manage all associated design registers, meeting minutes, drawing registers etc.
9. Direct liaison with CAD/BIM team to ensure correct drawing modelling.
10. Attend interdisciplinary design reviews and checks (IDR/IDC).
11. Develop scope documents for tenders and procurement processes.
12. Liaise with manufacturers to determine product suitability.
13. Attend FAT and SAT to ensure compliance with requirements.
14. Support and carry out the Commissioning of Mechanical Systems.
15. Carry out site surveys/visits for project purposes.
16. Direct liaison with installation teams to ensure design suitability.
17. Work with the commercial department to track technical or design change.
18. Work with the planning department to plan design, installation and T&C works.
19. Manage subcontractor works as appropriate.
20. Ensure design and works comply with VVB/Anthro and client quality management systems.
21. Keep up to date with all Mechanical, construction and relevant legislation, law, standards and best practice.
Line Management Duties:
1. Management of the Mechanical and Public Health engineering teams.
2. Design Management where required.
3. Review and management of the team’s time and allocation.
4. Training and mentoring of the Mechanical engineering team and Mechanical design team.
Person Specification
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
1. Knowledge of relevant Mechanical and Public Health installations legislation and standards.
2. Advanced MS Office skills including Excel.
3. Utilisation of MS Project or P6.
4. Working knowledge of Large HVAC systems, Fire rated ductwork, Staircase Pressurisation Systems, Smoke Clearance, Public Health systems.
5. Knowledge of implications of offsite construction to design.
6. Revit (or equivalent BIM product) and Mechanical design packages.
7. Sustainability awareness.
8. Awareness of DSEAR/ATEX requirements.
Qualifications:
1. Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
2. Engineering Council Registration as Incorporated Engineer.
3. Registered member of IMechE, IET, CIBSE or other recognised Engineering Council Institutions.
4. SMSTS, SSSTS or IOSH Managing Safety.
5. CSCS Card – AQP or PQP min.
6. Full UK drivers license.
7. Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
8. Engineering Council Registration as Chartered Engineer.
9. Project management qualification, APM, PRINCE 2 or equivalent.
10. Formal HSE training, NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
11. DSEAR & ATEX formal training.

1. Seven years’ experience within a similar Mechanical or Public Health Engineering position.
2. Previously worked within the infrastructure/construction environment.
3. Mechanical and Public Health Design experience.
4. Experience with offsite construction, modularisation, pre-fabrication and DfMA.
5. Previous experience within an M&E contractor.
6. Previous experience on Network Rail projects.
7. Previous experience on large railway station projects.
8. Commissioning experience.
