About the role
We are currently hiring for an Engineering Team Leader at our Ossett site to lead a team of 3 engineers on shift. This is a hands-on role, managing all aspects of daily site maintenance, working 12-hour shifts on a mix of days and nights. Overtime may be available.
What will I be doing?
Leadership:
* Collaborate with Production Team Leads/Managers to deliver high-quality engineering support aligned with operational targets.
* Supervise and coordinate engineering team activities supporting manufacturing operations.
* Meet team KPIs related to equipment performance, reliability, breakdowns, and maintenance completion.
* Coach and develop team members on safe working practices and fault diagnosis.
* Plan and allocate team resources efficiently to complete tasks timely.
* Motivate and manage team activities to achieve performance targets; identify and develop skills, behaviors, and competencies.
* Participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including root cause analysis.
* Support other teams/departments as a key member of the Site Engineering Team, embodying company values.
* Manage non-conformance and corrective actions to ensure compliance.
Hands-on duties:
* Address reactive maintenance needs of the site.
* Assist in developing PPM systems and scheduling maintenance activities.
* Perform operational tasks in line with legislation and company procedures.
* Diagnose, repair, and maintain production machinery.
* Work closely with production staff to communicate issues effectively.
* Ensure high line availability by minimizing engineering downtime.
* Conduct effective root cause analysis.
* Manage maintenance tools, supplies, and equipment.
* Contribute to ongoing site improvements.
Requirements for success:
We recognize diverse career paths and experiences. To succeed, candidates should demonstrate the following competencies and a proven track record in similar roles:
* Experience in an FMCG environment.
* Apprenticeship or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (HND/HNC/BTech).
* Strong fault-finding skills.
* PLC fault diagnosis (desirable).
* Leadership experience preferred but not essential.
