SEND Teaching Assistant
Start date: 6th January 2025
Pay: £90 - £105 per day
Contract length: Until the end of the academic year
The school:
The school is a specialist provision offering tailored educational programmes and Positive Behaviour Support for small groups of young people with severe and complex sensory profiles, learning difficulties, and exceptionally challenging behaviours. Many of the pupils experience social and emotional difficulties, with some having a history of recurring trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). These pupils have often been, or are at risk of, exclusion from other SEN settings due to their exceptionally complex behavioural needs.
The SEND Teaching Assistant role:
1. Bring energy, confidence, and enthusiasm to every day
2. Support the learning of individual pupils or small groups to help them achieve their progression goals
3. Champion inclusion and promote a positive learning environment for all students
4. Work under the guidance of experienced teaching staff to deliver tailored support
What we're looking for as a SEND Teaching Assistant:
1. A commitment to supporting children with diverse needs
2. Enthusiasm, resilience, and a positive attitude
3. Experience working with children with special educational needs is beneficial but not essential; a willingness to learn is key
4. Experience working with challenging behaviour, either within education, healthcare, or other equivalent alternatives
5. Right To Work in the UK, and currently resides in or close to Bristol, UK
6. Enhanced Child Workforce DBS certificate on the Update Service, or a willingness to gain one
7. Team Teach level 2 or similar positive behaviour management training is essential for this role
