Job Title: Site Manager
Location: Glasgow + Edinburgh (Site-Based)
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum
Role Overview:
My client is seeking a highly experienced Site Manager with at least 5-10 years of construction experience, preferably in cladding or drylining. The Site Manager will be responsible for overseeing all site operations, ensuring project timelines, cost control, and health & safety are maintained. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, this role is essential for the successful delivery of modernisation and construction projects in the housing sector.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage all site operations, including labour and plant allocation, site diaries, and health and safety documentation (e.g., Method Statements, Risk & COSHH assessments).
2. Monitor plant and equipment, ensuring timely return, security, and compliance with regulations.
3. Track project progress, identifying recovery tasks and meeting key deadlines.
4. Implement and manage Quality Management Strategy, including snagging, sign-offs, and compliance monitoring.
5. Prepare financial information for valuations, subcontractor progress, and variations reporting.
6. Oversee Hazard Awareness and Risk Assessments in compliance with company policies.
7. Plan forward resources and manage supply chain performance.
8. Attend Pre-Start Client Meetings and regular progress meetings, ensuring all stakeholders are informed.
9. Manage subcontractors and operatives, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and programme targets.
10. Ensure full PPE compliance on-site and foster environmental policy compliance.
11. Coordinate subcontractor meetings, reviews, and ensure competence compliance.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan.
2. Manage site logistics for materials storage and protection of installed fixtures.
3. Ensure compliance with HMRC CIS Subcontractor Forms and CSCS card requirements.
4. Provide mentoring and guidance to trainees, apprentices, and work experience staff.
5. Manage performance of subcontractors, ensuring quality, safety, and project timelines are met.
Requirements:
1. Minimum 5-10 years in construction, with strong cladding or drylining experience.
2. IOSH Managing Safely and SMSTS qualifications required (or willingness to obtain).
3. CSCS Card for management-level roles.
4. Valid First Aid Certificate.
5. Proven leadership skills, with a clear ability to manage and motivate site workers and subcontractors effectively.
6. Strong IT skills for project management, reporting, and maintaining site records.
7. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
