The Design Coordinator Role
They have an opportunity for a Design Coordinator responsible for co-ordinating project activities from order being secured and initiation to project handover to the Contracts Dept, including co-ordinating with client in initial design and pre-construction phases, construction approval and handover stage.To be responsible for the management of all deliverables documents for the projects from start to completion.
The Design Coordinator Duties and Responsibilities
To attend Project Pre-start meetings with clients and internal project meetings to ensure a smooth transition from pre/post tender to Design and Pre-Construction phases. This will include ensuring project specifications, deliverables and design requirements are fully understood, and project activities are logged, tracked, and ultimately completed on time.
To be responsible for the management of documents for projects from order to construction phase, including ensuring Project Folders are created for projects, and documents are uploaded in an accurate and timely manner. Also ensuring all filing and numbering protocol is complied with, and all documents are cross referenced.
To act as an intermediary and liaise with external parties, the design team, and the construction team regarding plans and drawings to ensure client requirements are fully understood, and the Design Department have all relevant information to produce plans and drawings.
To collate all relevant information to produce technical submittals including data sheets, sample requirements, create door and screen schedules and other relevant documents required for the project.
To monitor sample schedules and submissions and procurement schedules.
To ensure a smooth transition from the Design and Pre-Construction phase over to the Construction Team.
To monitor and track project dates and milestones through design, and pre-construction stages ensuring any areas of movement are highlighted and escalated and delivery date adjustments are signed off.
To ensure all key documents are completed, issued, and uploaded as per the clients document protocols.
The Successful Design Coordinator
Minimum of one years experience of carrying out a similar role within the construction industry.
Experience of project scheduling and procurement management.
Excellent document management and organisational skills with the ability to track and monitor project deliverables.
Ability to understand and interpret construction drawings and documents.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively liaise and co-ordinate activities between departments.
Ability to convey explanations to the client concisely paying attention to detail.
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project and document management systems.
A positive and self-motivated attitude with the ability to work without supervision and use own initiative.
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to own personal development within the role.
