Overview:
My client is seeking an Architectural & Facades Lead to guide the technical and design delivery of architectural and facade solutions across RIBA Stages 2-7. This role focuses on sustainable retrofit strategies, integrating low-carbon materials, performance enhancements, and modern construction methods. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary design teams and provide technical oversight through all project phases.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead architectural and facade design, particularly retrofit schemes, ensuring compliance with performance, regulatory, and aesthetic standards.
2. Drive sustainability through passive design, low-carbon materials, and advanced retrofit systems.
3. Oversee BIM and CAD coordination, design reviews, and risk/value engineering workshops.
4. Manage technical delivery through construction, including site support, QA/QC, and post-occupancy evaluations.
5. Engage with local authorities and planning bodies on approvals, including heritage and conservation where relevant.
6. Champion innovation in modular construction, bio-based materials, and circular economy principles.

Key Skills & Experience:
1. Expertise in facade and envelope design, material science, and retrofit strategies.
2. Strong knowledge of planning law, thermal performance, and airtightness.
3. Proficiency in BIM, CAD, and 3D modelling tools.
4. Proven leadership across RIBA Stages 2-7.
5. Experience with fire safety, acoustic performance, and facade integration.
6. Excellent stakeholder engagement and technical management skills.
Qualifications:
1. Degree in Architecture, Facade Engineering, or Building Conservation (MArch/BSc/MSc).
2. Chartered status (RIBA, IStructE, or SFE) preferred.
3. 10+ years' experience in architectural and facade design.
4. Retrofit Designer Certification desirable.
