We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Programmes Team based in Coventry.
Main Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage the successful delivery of a number of projects working across various MTC Technology Themes for major MTC clients.
2. Ensure the customer and all stakeholders' needs are clearly captured, understood, and effectively built into the project scope, and all aspects of project delivery.
3. Liaise with resource owners / team leaders to ensure effective use of resources in delivering project quality, cost & delivery within project scope.
4. Manage any changes to project scope via the recognised "Change Request" process.
5. Define, measure and report regular updates of project performance to the client, senior management and key stakeholders.
6. Work closely with technical leads.
7. Act as champion for project management processes, tools & techniques.
8. Contribute to continuous improvement activities related to PM tools and processes.
9. Offer clear and concise communication given in a timely manner to key stakeholders, ensuring they are briefed on any mission-critical issues and remedial plans are fully agreed.
Person Specification
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
1. Knowledge and experience of project management processes & reporting techniques.
2. Experience of delivering complex projects.
3. Significant experience in a busy projects environment.
4. Significant understanding of APM PM competencies.
5. Demonstrable knowledge of PMP and PMO.
6. An experienced MS Office user, including MS Project.
7. Experience and a working understanding of delivering projects in an engineering/professional services environment.
8. The ability to deliver our customers’ requirements in balance with other priorities and constraints such as budgets and resources.
9. Demonstrate a clear leadership style directing others to achieve project success.
10. The ability to build & actively manage a good working relationship with a challenging set of customers.
11. An articulate and effective communicator able to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
12. A natural investigatory nature with strong analytical skills.
13. Results driven self-starter with a positive CAN-DO approach focusing on solutions rather than problems.
14. Ability to remain calm, positive and constructive under pressure.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience
1. To view situations from a commercial perspective and be operating at a level where commercially focused decisions are made.
2. Numerate with a strong focus on financial management.
3. Experience of managing innovation in the content of the projects as well as delivery mechanisms.
4. Ability to identify opportunities for maintaining and updating performance standards.
5. Willingness to contribute to continuous improvement activities related to PM tools and processes.
6. Embraces personal and professional development.
7. Association of Project Management (APM) qualification (or willingness to work towards achieving this accredited qualification).
8. Experience of project management within NEC4 ECC contract environment.
