Electrical Engineer / Fitter (New Build HGVs) | Lowestoft | Full Time | £12.50 per hour + depending on experience
Our client manufactures commercial trucks and trailers, utilising materials from alloy, stainless steel, mild steel, galvanised steel, wood, fibre-glass and plastic.
They are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer / Fitter to join their team, specialising in the electrical installation and fitting of new-build HGVs. In this role, you will be responsible for the wiring, assembly, and integration of electrical systems in brand-new commercial vehicles, ensuring they meet both customer specifications and industry standards
Are you the right person for the job?
* Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Auto Electrical, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds)
* Experience in commercial vehicle or HGV electrical installation
* Strong understanding of wiring, circuits, and vehicle electronics
* Ability to read and work from technical drawings and wiring diagrams
* Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
* Knowledge of CAN bus systems, ECU programming, and diagnostics is desirable
What will your role look like?
* Install and wire electrical systems on new-build HGVs, including lighting, sensors, control units, and auxiliary equipment
* Fit and configure electronic systems such as cameras, heaters, electrical control boxes etc
* Work from electrical diagrams and technical specifications to ensure accurate installations
* Test and commission electrical systems to ensure full functionality and compliance with safety regulations
* Diagnose and resolve any electrical faults or issues during the build process
* Collaborate with mechanical engineers, fabricators, and production teams to ensure efficient vehicle assembly
* Maintain high standards of workmanship and adhere to industry regulations
