Job: Childrens Manager
Salary: £45,000 per annum
Location: Paignton, Devon
Amber Mace is recruiting for a Registered Manager in Paignton, as part of a specialist EBD service for children. If you are an experienced manager or an aspiring deputy manager, this could be the next career move for you.
As a Registered Manager, our expectation is that your home will be rated as at least “Good” by Ofsted. This is a solo Children's Home where you will:
1. Develop Comprehensive Care Plans: Ensure each young person has a tailored plan that addresses their care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs.
2. Develop a Great Team: Working with the recruitment teams support, bring in the right people for your home to ensure your success. Complete company induction and personal development plans, retaining a strong team to ensure familiar faces for the young people.
3. Foster Consultation: Develop systems to consult young people about the care they receive.
4. Allocate Key Workers: Assign a Key Worker to each young person to implement their care plan.
5. Maintain High Standards: Establish and monitor high-quality care standards in line with the quality standards and the Home's Statement of Purpose.
6. Handle Complaints and Concerns: Take responsibility for addressing any complaints or child protection concerns.
7. Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to promote the welfare of young people.
8. Participate in Meetings: Attend and contribute to care planning and review meetings as appropriate.
9. Embrace a Safe Culture: Ensure the children in your service are cared for at the best possible standard.
Essential Requirements:
1. Passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people in care.
2. Relevant Experience: At least 2 years in a position related to residential care of children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.
3. Qualifications: Level 3 in Children's Residential Care is essential. Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is preferred at the point of application, if not then you must be enrolled on the Level 5 within 6 months of starting in post.
4. Knowledge: Understanding of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation, and regulatory requirements.
5. Skills: Efficient in planning, organizing, budget control, resource allocation, and team leadership.
6. Communication: Confidence in effective spoken and written communication.
7. Understanding Trauma: Knowledge of the needs of children with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties, including managing challenging behaviour.
8. Driving License: Full UK required.
