Finance Officer
Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire (Hybrid Minimum 3 Days in Office)
Salary: Around GBP30,000 (FTE) Depending on Experience & Qualifications
Hours: Part-time (Minimum 30 Hours per Week, Flexible Working Options Available)
Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a flexible, part-time role within a purpose-driven organisation? We are seeking a Finance Officer to support the Head of Finance in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the work of the Accounts Payable Assistant, ensuring accurate financial transaction processing.
2. Manage prepayments, accruals, and recurring journals such as depreciation.
3. Ensure financial data integrity within Sage 50 and meet reporting deadlines.
4. Perform bank reconciliations and oversee the integration of income from EPOS and donor management systems.
5. Reconcile balance sheets and miscellaneous accounts (e.g., eBay and PayPal).
6. Ensure compliance with VAT regulations for all transactions.
7. Assist with payroll preparation and processing, including pension and HMRC payments.
8. Support the year-end audit process and contribute to streamlining financial controls.
Key Skills & Experience:
1. AAT Level 4 qualification, an accountancy degree, or equivalent experience (QBE considered).
2. Proficiency in Sage 50 or a similar accounting system.
3. Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
4. Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel.
5. Experience in a finance role within a similar organisation.
6. Ability to communicate financial information effectively to different audiences.
7. A proactive approach to improving processes and financial controls.
