You will conduct vessel surveys and undertake incident investigations for our clients. This could include undertaking services such as vessel manoeuvring simulations, marine risk studies, vessel moorings and port operation assessments. What you will be doing.
1. Conduct inspections and audits (Suitability, Condition, and Pre-purchase surveys) onboard ships as required by the client.
2. Take part in technical and procedural reviews and marine study reports covering marine and offshore projects.
3. Attendance of transportation and other marine operations as required.
4. Provide expert witness opinion within your specialist field, both written and potentially at court or arbitration.
5. Help ABL Group to win surveying and expert witness work opportunities with P&I clubs, H&M insurers, ship owners, managers, charterers and law firms.
This position will be based in the UK and the job holder must have the right to work and reside in the UK. We offer hybrid and remote work. Flexibility with working hours and willingness to travel within Europe and further afield based on client and business demand will be required.
What we are looking for.
Ideally, you will be an experienced Master Mariner with at least 7 years' worth of seagoing experience. Command experience is desirable but non-essential. More specifically, we are looking for the following:
6. Master Mariner (STCW II/2) license.
7. Proven experience working within the marine consultancy space.
8. Proven experience of undertaking expert witness work and suitability, pre-purchase and condition surveys.
