The Opportunity
Crown House Technologies is the specialist MEP delivery unit of Laing O'Rourke and is currently recruiting a MEP Change Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team at our Ellison Institute of Technology. The Institute continues work in cancer research, disease prevention, and global health policy, along with providing educational programming for students from around the globe.
A newly constructed building in The Oxford Science Park will be home to further research laboratories and educational spaces, laid out to promote collaboration and flexibility. This includes a roof-top wooden geodesic dome overlooking the surrounding tree canopy.
The two buildings will be connected by an elevated tree-covered walkway to enhance access and promote collaboration between both sites.
What will the MEP Change Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor role look like?
* All aspects of Change Control and Management including subcontractors.
* Forecasting cash and costs.
* Management of valuations and procurement.
* Senior Quantity Surveying duties including measurement, valuation, and agreement of work sections.
* Preparation and management of interim applications for payment and agreeing certifications.
* Draft, manage and settle subcontracts.
* Management and reporting of monthly costs.
* Keep your manager fully advised of any issue/risk which has arisen or might arise, and which could affect the business/project.
* Negotiating with client's representatives, sub-contractors, and other consultants to achieve project results whilst maintaining group relationships.
* Advise on commercial risks within the project or projects.
* Ensure that contract documents are properly executed prior to project commencement.
* Communicating clearly & confidently to a professional standard.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
* Change control / management experience.
* Degree qualified in relevant discipline (Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management, Construction Management).
* JCT/Bespoke contract experience.
* Member of RICS or working towards achieving MRICS status preferable.
* A good knowledge of coins, for both sub-contract and cost management.
* A drive to learn and grow to the next grade.
