This well-established FTSE listed manufacturing group is a world-leading supplier of specialist industrial products. It has revenues of over £1bn and a recent track record of strategic acquisitions.
In this role, you will own and project manage the outsourced (Big 4) delivery of direct tax compliance and statutory accounts reporting for the Group across Europe (12 countries, 40 corporate tax returns and 41 statutory accounts).
Key duties will include:
1. Project manage the outsourced European Corporate Tax Compliance and Statutory Accounts preparation to our chosen provider working alongside the Group Tax and European Shared Services Team.
2. Prepare/review specific claims such as R&D tax credits and capital allowances claims.
3. Work with the provider to ensure corporate tax returns are filed on time and are accurate.
4. Work with the provider and Group tax to ensure tax reporting into group and local statutory account tax reporting is timely and accurate.
5. Ensure corporate tax payments are appropriately forecast and made.
6. Work with the European Shared Services Team to represent Direct Taxes, improving processes and understanding around corporate tax, withholding taxes, and employment taxes – such as PAYE Settlement Agreements.
7. Ensure corporate taxes are correctly booked in the underlying SAP systems.
8. Prepare year-end tax reporting under FRS 102 for UK subsidiaries and manage the relationship with external auditors of tax across Europe.
9. Act as point of contact with tax authorities across Europe on tax audits, collaborating with Group Tax and external advisers on strategy/approach.
10. Participation in M&A activity as required – including but not limited to providing or analysing data for due diligence activity, preparing processes and systems for transition, validating and testing data, ensuring resources are in place and trained.
About you:
1. ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent.
2. Ideally a trained tax professional with accounting skills.
3. May also suit a financial accountant with an interest in corporate tax compliance/accounting.
4. Solid team management and organisational skills.
5. Previous oversight of direct tax compliance.
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
7. Proven ability to manage multiple projects.
