They have been in the business for over fifty years and offer a wide range of shredders designed to meet various needs, including: - Confidential destruction: Shredding sensitive documents and materials. - Volume reduction: Reducing the volume of waste materials for easier disposal. - Production processing: Preparing materials for further processing, such as recycling or composting. - Mobile shredding: Providing on-site shredding services for large volumes of materials. Their machines are tailored to specific customer requirements and can handle a variety of materials, including paper, cardboard, plastic, and wood. THE ROLE Ulster Engineering in partnership with Ulster University, has established a 2-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Project and is offering an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and highly motivated Engineering graduate to work as a KTP Associate to develop an advanced, smart shredder for intelligent waste reclamation marking a significant leap in Ulster Engineering product offerings. This will revolutionise the shredding industry reshaping usage and enhancing performance and efficiency, whilst driving substantial innovation in waste management. KTP PROJECT DESCRIPTION The KTP Associate will undertake the complex task of integrating IoT technology and implementing adaptive control strategies into Ulster Shredders twin-shaft, slow-speed shredders to optimise shredder performance efficiency, providing the company and its customers with access to performance data for maximising output and machine uptime. It also involves working with stakeholders (academics and industry) and managing the project to create a robust system to support Ulster Shredders. The Associate will need to advocate for the project's importance and convince stakeholders of its value, thus highlighting the potential benefits it brings to the business, targeted development partners and clients. The Associate should have good skills and experience in the following areas: - Systems engineering principles, including requirements engineering, system design, integration, and verification and validation. - Knowledge of programming languages and software development methodologies to develop system components. - Skills in data analysis and statistical methods to analyse system performance and identify improvement areas.
