We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Mental Health Lead to join our Primary Care team at HMP Highpoint, a Category C men's prison, located in the village of Stradishall in Suffolk, England.
Highpoint Prison offers free parking and free use of an on-site large gym. We can offer nurse prescribing for career development. This is a unique setting, working alongside the prison with good working relationships, and undergoing the development of a new site to expand capacity, making it an exciting time to join.
Hours
37.5 hours a week, mainly working Monday to Friday 8-4 or 8.30-4.30pm, with some weekend cover when required.

You'll receive an annual salary up to £46,420 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As a Deputy Mental Health Lead (Senior Nurse), your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options.
* Manage a team of around 5 or 6 Mental Health Nurses, LD Nurse, and a TNA.
* Undertake medication rounds and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed.
* Assess patients' health needs using an evidence-based framework and conduct risk assessments using sound clinical knowledge.
* Ensure that you assess the physical and mental health of prisoners on admission to the prison and throughout their period of custody to make appropriate referrals.
* Be responsible for making clinical judgments regarding any immediate needs and long-term treatment.
Qualifications required
* You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a passion for developing your clinical skills in an ever-changing environment.
* Must have strong leadership experience and team management skills.
* Current professional qualification (NMC) and evidence of Continued Professional Development.
* Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
* A non-judgmental and compassionate approach.
* A flexible approach to working within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
