Trainee Senior Mental Health Practitioner
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
We are recruiting for a band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse for a development post across our Crisis Pathway.
The successful candidate would be expected to complete a program of learning and development through the first 12 months - we would expect that you would contribute to this plan and work collaboratively with us to identify any specific learning needs you may have. Once competencies are completed and signed off, the post will be converted to a Band 6 position.
We are looking for Mental Health Practitioners who want to develop their level of skill in the assessment and care of people who present in mental health crisis and will consist of placements within the MH&LD Liaison Team, Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team and Acute In-patient ward.
The MH&LD Liaison Team provides assessments, advice, and reasonable adjustments for people with mental health needs and learning disabilities accessing treatment at St Mary's Hospital. We aim to improve the parity of care for people of all ages with mental health and learning disabilities in the acute hospital and work with their family and carers to ensure they have the best possible care and treatment. The team works across the full age spectrum and provides a 24-hour service across seven days of the week.
Main duties of the job
In order to ensure Acute Mental Health services support people through the No Wrong Door strategy, we have been transforming the current crisis pathway to a single Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team which involves expanding the scope and capabilities of the current Home Treatment Team. The CRHT team is seen as a vital mental health service dedicated to delivering high-quality care and support to individuals experiencing mental health crisis. We are looking for people who share our vision of our CRHT service playing a pivotal role in providing timely and effective interventions, ensuring that individuals receive the care they need in the least restrictive setting possible.
This position is suitable for a highly motivated, compassionate person who can work under pressure. We therefore welcome applicants with existing crisis and liaison experience but also those who have experience working with older adults, HTTs, CMHTs or mental health inpatients.
You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to interact at all levels. There will be opportunities for you to participate in the teaching and training of health professionals in ED, medical and surgical wards. This is a challenging but rewarding role, within a busy and evolving multidisciplinary service.
