Wilsons Auctions is the largest independently owned auction house in the UK and Ireland. We have an exciting opportunity for a Class 1 or 2 Car Transporter Driver to join our fleet, based out of our Telford Branch.
Minimum Requirements:
* No more than 6 points (SP) and must not include any of the following:
* IN5 IN10 or DR offences.
* You must hold a valid and up to date driver CPC & digital tachograph card.
The role holder is responsible for the appraising/inspecting, loading, driving and delivery of customer owned motor vehicles to dealer outlets, auctions, and other commercial locations in a safe, compliant and timely manner. You will be based at our Telford depot so it would be beneficial to be living within close travelling distance.
Key Responsibilities:
* In conjunction with the Transport Allocator, plan the delivery of the load in the most efficient manner, maximising delivery opportunities.
* Undertake an effective appraisal and inspection of every vehicle and complete your drivers POD.
* Report all vehicle damage accurately and immediately to the Business Managers.
* Load each motor vehicle in accordance with procedures, ensuring they are secured safely & the transporter isn't overloaded (highlighted in the drivers' company handbook).
* Avoid damage to vehicles, car transporter, customer and public property.
* Undertake a full vehicle daily defect check of the transporter before every movement and record accordingly. Raise any vehicle defects immediately to the Business Managers.
* Abide by the regulations relating to tachograph, driver hours and Working Time Regulations.
* Drive safely and professionally with due care and attention to other road users, abiding by the Highway Code/Road Traffic Act.
* Keep all documentation legible, paying attention to detail.
* Display a positive attitude towards your work, behave professionally and maintain a clean and tidy image.
* You must be able to meet the physical demands of the job including loading and unloading of vehicles, working at heights and in all weathers.
* Vehicles collection and delivery.
* Vehicle maintenance - it will be your duty to ensure that the vehicle is roadworthy and kept clean.
* No tramping with nights out required.

* Due to insurance requirements, applicants must be at least 25 years of age and have a minimum of 12 months experience in a similar role.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 9am-5.30pm. Flexibility will be required to suit the needs of the business.
Due to the demands of the business, you will be required to work overtime when required. You will be paid for the additional hours at the overtime rate.
