We are partnering with a leading aerospace manufacturer who are seeking a Trade Compliance Manager to join their team in Edinburgh.
Reporting into the Head of Trade Compliance, this role will provide support, including advice and guidance, on International Trade Compliance matters in order to ensure compliance with UK, EU, US and other Export Control laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide expert guidance and advice to individuals and managers across all levels within the IS&P LoB based at our Edinburgh facility to ensure adherence to UK and international import/export laws, encompassing regulations such as the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), along with internal corporate policies.
2. Collaborate with the IS&P LoB to understand Business Winning objectives, ensuring early consideration of trade compliance aspects, timely resolution of export licensing issues, and integration of trade compliance plans into project lifecycles. Attend and support Business Winning Reviews and Contract Acceptance Reviews to address export control and trade compliance matters.
3. Work alongside Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) to establish Commodity List Classification (CLC)/Export Control Ratings and Customs classifications, ensuring compliance with UK Export and customs regulations.
4. Assist Project Teams and functions in managing Export Control and Trade Compliance aspects of Equipment and Technology, including data management, in alignment with UK and Foreign export authorizations.
5. Conduct training sessions on Export Control and Trade Compliance to equip IPTs and functions with relevant knowledge.
6. Oversee the Import/Export Control team to ensure adherence to UK export licenses, HMRC Regulations, and other UK and Foreign export license conditions. This includes preparing and submitting Export License applications and other relevant UK authorizations.
7. Conduct internal Trade Compliance assessments and prepare reports, including draft Voluntary Disclosures, for approval by the Head of Trade Compliance – Electronics Division. Review, modify, and approve Trade Compliance reports for internal and external use.
8. Prepare for and support internal/external audits related to Export Control and Trade Compliance matters.
Skills required:
1. Extensive experience in export control/trade compliance, including detailed knowledge of UK Export Licensing and Trade Controls, and familiarity with foreign import/export regulations, particularly EU Member States and US ITAR and EAR.
2. Proficient in UK/EU Customs regulations.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills to support decision-making based on sound knowledge of International Trade.
5. Presentation skills for delivering effective training.
Desirable skills:
1. Familiarity with SAP ERP (ECC6 or S4/HANA).
2. Understanding of trade compliance considerations for international support programs within the aerospace, defence, and security sector.
