ENERGY ASSOCIATE/VP – M&A
The Opportunity
My Investment Banking boutique client is seeking a senior Associate or a VP to join their Energy team in their London office. This person will play an integral role in the execution of the Firm’s full offering of financial advisory services to assist their clients in achieving their financial and strategic goals.
Their clients are companies in the Oil & Gas and Renewable Energy sectors.
You will participate on deal teams for private and public equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, valuations, and various other forms of financial advisory work. At the same time, managing the transactions and analysts in the team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support engagement teams in equity and debt financing, sell-side, buy-side and general advisory M&A engagements, within the Energy sector team
* Oversee due diligence
* Lead preparation of offering documentation and materials
* Assist in the execution of public equity and debt financing transactions
* Work with senior investment bankers in transactions’ execution
* Perform valuation analyses using various methodologies including discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout, trading comparables and transaction comparables.
* Financial modelling – you will be expected to be able to build detailed financial models to evaluate performance under various operating scenarios and to analyse the impacts of different capital structures and potential M&A transactions.
* Prepare presentation materials for use in client meetings, covering topics such as strategic alternatives, capital markets activity and general corporate finance.
* Participate in all stages of transaction executions, from the pitch phase through to closing.
* Report writing, data and research gathering.
Qualifications:
* 3 years’ minimum experience in investment banking, in particular an IB sector team – Energy or related - or M&A execution team or accounting firm’s transaction services team
* Sector knowledge of Energy (oil & gas or Renewables) or related areas preferred
* Strong quantitative, analytical and communication skills
* Deep understanding of financial statements and valuation techniques
* Good financial modelling (DCF, merger models) preferred
* Superior attention to detail
* Ideal candidates will have the ability to adapt, manage projects independently, and assume a high level of responsibility as a productive member of the team
* Ability to multitask and work under pressure
* Ability to work independently and function within a team
* Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
* Good understanding of financial data sources (Capital IQ and Bloomberg)
