Location: Barnoldswick/Inchinnan
Role Purpose:
You will be supporting the commercial team in delivering the varied commercial duties for our Rolls Royce projects, as well as being responsible for procuring and managing our supply chain. You will actively seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality for our client.
What you will be doing
Cost Engineering
1. Measure, record & value work unsupervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures
2. Work with PM and single source contractor over value engineering reductions
Estimating
3. Measure & interpret specifications & drawings
4. Build up estimates from first principle including net and gross estimates
5. Translate measurement from drawings and Specifications and prepare Bills of Quantities and/or Schedules of rates
6. Provide input and commercial adjudication to potential tenders (Go/No-go, etc)
7. Planning
8. Review weekly, monthly, programmes of works
9. Plan commercial activities to meet requirements of programmes
10. Have an understanding of delay and disruption programmes
Project Management
11. Use the company’s Evolution MX System
12. Prepares, submits and negotiates claims when required. Including monthly valuations and final accounts
13. Collation of Cost and Value Information for monthly reviews
14. Experienced in NEC3/4 - Issue and management of Early Warning Notices / EWN Register, Risk Register, Compensation Events and alike
15. Monitors subcontract activities, measure and respond appropriately with applicable notices
16. Preparation of Cost reconciliation statements
17. Help identify savings and value engineering
Procurement
18. Collect information required to specify procurement requirements
19. Record and document information including registration of interest
20. Understand the steps / documentation required
Commercial Management
21. Undertakes customer and stakeholder management for their area of responsibility
22. Vetting of contractual terms and conditions in accordance with Integral house rules
23. Cash management: Commercial processes involved with debt recovery, retentions and cash flow
24. Measurement of works and agreements with subcontractors, including placement of sub-contract orders (T&C’s), valuing applications, measurement of variations and final account agreement
25. Maintain a Personal Development Plan
What we will need from you
26. BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (highly desirable).
27. Proven and demonstrable experience in the role of a Quantity Surveyor within the building/construction/building service industries (essential).
28. Experience of working in occupied buildings/campuses (essential).
29. Experience in the use of NEC3 Contracts (highly desirable)
30. Competent user of IT software packages including MS Office,
31. Excellent interpersonal skills, with clear and confident written and verbal communication skills (essential).
32. High level organisational ability along with time management skills in order to drive and meet deadlines (essential).
33. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to all tasks undertaken. Able to demonstrate initiative and problem solve (essential).
34. Commitment to providing a high-quality service demonstrating reliability, conscientiousness and flexibility (essential).
