This is an excellent opportunity to join the Governance and Legal Team at Wyre Council working as the Council’s Electoral Services Administration Officer. Your main role will be to support the Electoral Services team and provide support to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and the Returning Officer (RO) in the administration of all elections and referendums in the borough. You will assist with the preparation, compilation and maintenance of a complete and accurate Register of Electors. The postholder will also assist with the Mayoral and Civic Administration function, supporting the day-to-day running of all mayoral and civic responsibilities.
The successful applicant will have 5 GCSE’s to grade 5 or above (A-C) including English and Maths. Use of computers, particularly Microsoft Office software packages, is essential. The successful applicant should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and have the ability to work unsupervised at pace whilst maintaining accuracy and often to tight, conflicting deadlines. Experience of an electoral management system is desirable.
Whilst previous experience of working in local government and the field of electoral registration and elections is desirable, it is not essential, and a full training package will be put in place for the successful candidate.
