With over a century of expertise in textiles and related products, BTTG and Shirley are the leading independent organisation for testing and certification. BTTG specialise in the testing, certification and auditing of Personal Protective Equipment and Construction Products. Shirley is a member of the OEKO-TEX Association and offers testing and certification to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, MADE IN GREEN, STeP, DETOX TO ZERO, ECOPASSPORT, LEATHER STANDARD, RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS and ORGANIC COTTON, plus analytical and investigation services as a member of the Expert Witness Service.
We operate in nine countries, assist clients in over 70 countries and have four laboratories in the UK along with one in India. Our offices are in the UK (Manchester and Leeds), Dublin, Bangladesh, China, Kenya, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Vietnam, and India.
Due to a vacancy within the Shirley Technical Team, we are seeking a Technical Officer based in Trafford Park.
Reporting to the Certification Manager, the main responsibilities are:
1. Technical review and interpretation of applications for the purpose of OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certification
2. Test planning based on understanding of textile products and processes and understanding and application of the OEKO-TEX requirements
3. Evaluating product compliance with Standard requirements and issuing reports to clients
4. Timely customer responses and communicative approach to service delivery
5. Project management of multiple jobs at various stages of the certification process
6. Impeccable time management and ability to prioritise appropriately to ensure work is delivered on time and is technically accurate
7. Clear and accurate communication externally with clients and internally with other departments
8. Ensure that project administration is completed and submitted within agreed timeframes
9. Escalating issues through line management and collaborating to resolve problems
10. Other duties as assigned
Skills/Attributes:
1. Technical understanding of textile processes, chemistry and/or testing and certification
2. Well organised, exceptional time management and attention to detail
3. Strong customer service focus and empathetic approach
4. Excellent communication skills
5. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise accordingly
